- Torii
In 2018, we carried out renovation work on the large torii gate at Toyokuni Shrine in Kyoto.
One of the outer trusses fell due to deterioration. As the torii gate is approximately 10 meters tall, scaffolding was erected and the gate was re-erected using a crawler crane. The existing outer truss was partially repaired and reused.
During installation, custom-made reinforcing metal fittings were made to support the outer truss from below and fixed to the pillar stones. A gourd shape was carved into this reinforcing metal fitting. This is a cherished symbol of the shrine, as a gourd was the horse crest of Toyotomi Hideyoshi, the enshrined deity of Toyokuni Shrine.
Rather than simply carrying out renovations, we place importance on making suggestions that are appropriate for each client, based on their historical and cultural background.
