- Torii
Traditionally, the torii gates at imperial tombs were made of wood, but because wooden gates are prone to corrosion, they were replaced with stone gates after the war.
The torii gates at imperial tombs differ from the torii gates at ordinary shrines (Myojin-gata torii gates) and are straight, Shinmei-gata gates.
Large foundations measuring 900mm square were poured beneath the ground and installed.
