There are four (currently three) Ishimo-type guardian dogs enshrined in the precincts of Kitano Tenmangu Shrine. The name of “stone mason Moemon Yoshimura” is engraved on the pedestal. The tail that seems to swirl and the powerful face are typical of the “Ishimo-type” guardian dogs.
