- Monument
It is installed at the east gate of Goou Jinja Shrine, facing Karasuma Street, west of the Kyoto Imperial Palace. The marker stone is 3600mm high, 700mm wide, and 520mm deep. The total height including the base is 4260mm, making it a large shrine marker stone. What’s more, its unique shape with a portrait of Wake no Kiyomaro at the top makes it easily visible from cars passing by. The stone is made of white granite with a water-polished finish. The illustration part is made of polished black granite and then sandblasted. It was hoisted and installed using a large crawler crane. On the right side of the photo you can also see the Koma-inoshishi, a symbol of Go-o Shrine.
