It is modeled after the lantern placed in the garden of the former Shoden-in Shoin at Urakuen in Inuyama City, Aichi Prefecture.
The former Shoden-in Shoin is a shoin adjacent to Jo-an, one of the three most famous tea ceremonies designated as national treasures, and was the retirement home of Oda Urakusai, a feudal lord and tea master who was active during the early days of the tea ceremony.
