Shidaikouryou Monument

  • Architecture
  • Monument

The stone used for the main body of the monument is Inai stone from Miyagi Prefecture, matching the existing stone monuments that stand nearby. It is a heavy black stone with a distinctive wood grain pattern and sawed edges. When the letters are carved, they stand out in white. The front side on which the Shidaikouryou is engraved is framed and polished inside, highlighting the black color and emphasizing the letters. The base stone that firmly supports the monument, which is 2260mm high, 1200mm wide, and 300mm deep, is made of Tamba stone with a rough finish. The rough-faced stone behind it is the stone wall of the ruins of Kameyama Castle, known for Akechi Mitsuhide.
