Oribe Lantern
- Stone Lantern
- Implanted Lantern
Despite having no relation to Christianity, this is known as the Chrisitan Lantern. It gained its name because its pole simulates a cross, the figure below resembles a missionary, and the swollen characters at the top resemble Roman letters. In fact, what appears as a missionary is believed to be a Buddhist monk or statue, and the supposed Roman letters are said to be Sanskrit characters. The design which has a sun and moon candle box was created by the tea master Furuta Oribe.
