Fudo Myo-o is a Buddha of Esoteric Buddhism, said to be an incarnation of Dainichi Nyorai, and is a being with strong mercy and determination to “cut off delusions and worldly desires and lead everyone to the path of Buddha.”
He is the central figure of the Five Great Wisdom Kings and is worshiped as the guardian deity of Esoteric Buddhism. Its angry expression, known as the “Funnu no Aso,” symbolizes people’s strong will to cut off confusion and evil. Its eyes are said to be the “Tenchigan” (eyes of heaven and earth), and it is said that it watches over every corner of heaven and earth.
The benefits of Fudo Myo-o are wide-ranging, including the dispelling of worldly desires, protection from misfortune, academic success, warding off foreign enemies, and ensuring national security, and it is said to ward off disasters, bring success, and peace in this world.
